Margarine Works expected to start on site in autumn 2019
Assael Architecture has submitted plans for a 2,000-home regeneration project in Ealing
The scheme, for Montreaux Developments, will transform the site of the former Maypole margarine factory in Southall.
Named Margarine Works, the project will play a role in the wider regeneration of Ealing and will include an acre of parkland.
The masterplan will deliver more than 2,000 new homes, including affordable housing and a build-to-rent offer. It will also include retail, commercial and leisure facilities.
As part of the development both the Sunrise Radio building and the facade of the Maypole Margarine factory will be retained.
The project will benefit from the Crossrail station planned for Southall and has direct rail links to Heathrow.
There are additional infrastructure upgrades in the masterplan which include a new pedestrianised bridge over the railway.
Margarine Works will be delivered in phases over the next 15 years. Work on the first phase is expected to start in autumn 2019. The first homes are due to be available in 2021.
