What’s done is done. Pragmatism and optimism are what we need now to get Britain back on the front foot, argues Chris Dyson
I’m sure, deep down, Boris is a decent enough chap. Well, let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, shall we? In order to offer a reasonably dispassionate and fair appraisal, perhaps a checklist might be helpful, so – in no particular order:
1. The Garden Bridge. Hmmmm… £53.5m well spent?
2. The famed “Boris Bikes” which cost the taxpayer £11m to keep on the road, but a worthy enterprise and certainly good PR for Boris (even though the scheme was first mooted by Ken Livingstone).
3. The fantastic figure on the side of the Brexit campaign bus of £350m, apparently sent by the UK to the EU every week (not correct), and which could be spent on the NHS instead.
