Georgie Revell reviews the Inclusive Housing Design Guide

The new Inclusive Housing Design Guide offers a comprehensive resource on best practice housing design that goes beyond the traditional concept of accessibility. Its publication follows Habinteg’s 2003 Design Guide and builds on subsequent guidance documents from Habinteg and others, not least the 2015 housing standards review, which resulted in the publication of Approved Document M (AD-M).

This revised and updated edition is welcomed as there has been time for the 2015 national standards to be built out and lived in. As a result, this guidance offers valuable insight from its author, Jacquel Runnalls, and contributors, including lead peer reviewer Marney Walker, who bring a breadth of experience including housing occupational therapy.
