£4m innovation centre is in new Norfolk enterprise zone
Feilden & Mawson has completed a £4 million innovation centre on the edge of King’s Lynn.
The King’s Lynn Innovation Centre, built on a 1.7ha government-designated enterprise zone, is intended to kick-start the regeneration of West Norfolk.
The four-storey building has 1,950sq m of managed workspace for start-ups businesses with meeting rooms, break-out spaces and a central reception.
Philip Bodie, a partner at Feilden & Mawson who led the design team, said: “The instinctive initial sketches we presented right at the outset have changed very little and I am very proud of what we have achieved together from the ground up.
“If people are talking about the ‘ski-slope’ roof, the chameleon panels or transparent east elevation and atrium, it means the building is drawing attention – and that is exactly what we all set out to do. Specifically, we want it to be a magnet for future tenants.”
The cladding appears to change colour from green to purple as you approach.
The project was financed by the borough council, the New Anglia LEP and a local enterprise agency. Procurement was through a design and build contract with Feilden & Mawson novated to the contractor, RG Carter.
