Building will be Canada’s tallest
Work on Canada’s tallest building, designed by Foster & Partners, has begun.
Called the One, the scheme in Toronto will be just over 306m tall – which is a metre higher than Eric Parry’s planned One Undershaft in the City of London – and run across 85 storeys.
It will includes a 175-room hotel and a 60 floors of condo apartments topped by multilevel penthouses.
Fosters is working with local practice Core Architects on the CAD$1bn (£605m) project which is being developed by local firm Mizrahi.
Although set to be the tallest building in Canada, the scheme is still lower than the CN tower elsewhere in the city. The communications and observation tower is 553m tall but is not classified as a building.
Fosters recently announced plans for Hungary’s tallest building, a 28-storey scheme for an oil company.
