But profits slip
Grimshaw saw its workloads head north last year with revenue from both the UK and overseas up on 2012’s figures.
The firm’s turnover rose 44% to just under £25 million with the biggest hike in work taking place in its markets outside the UK and Europe.
As well as London, the firm has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Doha and New York.
Turnover from its Rest of the World business, that which doesn’t include the UK and Europe, was up two thirds to £13.7 million in the year to March 2013. UK work, where it is carrying out redevelopment work at London Bridge station (pictured) and is also working on proposals for the HS2 railway and a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point in Somerset, was up nearly a quarter to £10.6 million.
But pre-tax profits at the firm slipped from £1.9 million to £1.3 million.
In a statement accompanying its report and accounts, the firm said: “Whilst the group has experienced some effects of the global recession the firm continues to grow steadily globally.”
The number of staff employed during the period was 182, down slightly on the 194 recorded a year earlier.
Postscript
The figures don’t include numbers from Grimshaw’s New York office which also runs some of its China and Middle East jobs. Accounts for this part of the business are filed in the US.
