Broadcaster wants to redevelop its South Bank home after 45 years
Hopkins has submitted plans to redevelop the ITV tower on London’s South Bank.
The project will replace the existing 88m landmark offices with a 104m residential tower.
It will also create a new headquarters for the television company, including offices and studios, bringing together all ITV London’s staff under one roof for the first time.
The the 30,000sq m development includes a publicly accessible square and pedestrian route from Upper Ground.
ITV has been based at the London Television Centre for 45 years. It no longer provides the kind of space, facilities or collaborative environment required, said executive chairman Peter Bazalgette.
The broadcaster has spent four years reviewing more than 30 potential sites for a new London headquarters before concluding the existing site best meets its future needs.
If the plans are approved by Lambeth council, work could start in 2019.
