LOM launches travel bursary scheme in colleague's memory

Karla Roman

Award created in honour of Karla Roman who died in a cycling accident

LOM Architecture & Design has created an annual travel bursary in memory staff member Karla Roman, who was hit and killed by a coach as she cycled to work last year.

The £2,000 fund – similar in principle to the travel bursary offered by Foster & Partners via RIBA – is available to architecture students who are seeking financial support for travel in connection with their studies.

LOM director Richard Hutchison said Brazilian national Roman was “a highly creative architect, a beautiful young woman and a very warm person” who had rapidly become a key member of the practice’s team and had begun a promising career.
