Shenzhen base is located in the practice’s China Resources Tower
Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates has opened an office in Shenzhen, its third base in China.
The practice, which is headquartered in New York, now has nine bases worldwide – including offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
KPF’s Shenzhen base is located in the 68-storey China Resources Tower, which was designed by the practice.
The office is led by KPF director Florence Chan, who began her tenure in New York and has risen through the ranks of the firm’s Hong Kong office over the past decade.
Chan said KPF had completed more than 100 buildings in China since its first project in 2000 and that Shenzhen, which is immediately north of Hong Kong, had become increasingly important.
“For almost 15 years, Shenzhen has been a key node in our practice, host to many of the firm’s most significant accomplishments,” she said.
“The establishment of the Shenzhen office reinforces our commitment to the city and the Greater Bay Area. One step closer to our projects, we are excited to strengthen our engagement and deepen our presence in the local community.”
KPF president James von Klemperer said the vitality of Shenzhen and the way its citizens embraced new technologies made it “an ideal environment for the pursuit of progressive architecture”.
KPF also has offices in London, Berlin, Singapore, Seoul and San Francisco.
