Scheme awaiting clearance from MHCLG before work can begin

PRP has been given the green light for a £500m regeneration scheme in Stevenage it has masterplanned.

It includes a public services hub comprising health facilities, a library, retail and office space which has been designed by Bennetts Associates.

Landscape architect LDA Design also on the project team.

Known as SG1, the scheme will provide 1,864 new homes across 11 buildings on 14.5 acres of council-owned land.

It is part of a wider £1bn regeneration plan which aims to transform the centre of the town over the next 20 years.

Mace, which was appointed to the scheme by Stevenage council in 2018, will build five new neighbourhoods in the Hertfordshire town.

A main contractor is expected to be appointed in the coming months, but construction will need to wait for the outcome of a review by MHCLG before it can begin.
