The scheme is part of the second phase of the $2.5bn The Wharf development

Rafael Vinoly Architects has unveiled its design for a 96-home luxury apartment building in Washington DC.

Located close to the US capital’s government district, the 12-storey building is part of the second phase of The Wharf, a USD $2.5bn (£1.94bn) waterfront neighbourhood along the city’s Potomac River.

The Walkie Talkie architect designed it for developer Hoffman-Madison Waterfront, a joint venture between Hoffman & Associates and Madison Marquette.

Madison Marquette chairman Amer Hammour said the building, which features homes ranging from 700sq ft single bedroom to 6,000sq ft four bedroom apartments, including multi-level penthouses, will provide residents with “unparalleled luxury”.

The building features curved, outward sloping windows

It will sit alongside a 1.5-acre park designed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, which re-designed Pennsylvania Avenue at the nearby White House as well as Brooklyn Bridge Park in New York.

The building is due for completion in 2022.
