Former Fosters and ZHA staffer Shyamala Duraisingam appointed to lead new operation
Architecture practice Scott Brownrigg has set up a new design-management unit and promoted senior project manager Shyamala Duraisingam to lead it.
Duraisingam has previously worked for Foster & Partners, Zaha Hadid Architects and Santiago Calatrava. She has also collaborated on projects with Frank Gehry and Jean Nouvel while working at engineering companies. Additionally, the civil engineer lectures on project management at the Bartlett School of Architecture.
She said the new design-management unit would support clients and developers, helping to “coordinate and manage interactions” between design and design-related disciplines. It will also offer full project set-up services for international projects, including managing local teams in host countries.
Duraisingam said her aim was to make the unit “unique” in its ability to combine technical expertise and design-management expertise and deliver bespoke services for each project.
“These will carry the full weight of in-depth technical, procurement and construction understanding to arrive at integrated solutions that successfully ‘armour clad’ the project against the typical problems during all stages of the project,” she said.
She added that the unit was showcasing its full scope of services for the UK headquarters of a “high profile confidential sports entity”, which is being designed by Scott Brownrigg.
