Architect adds extra storey in new planning application
An eight-storey build-to-rent scheme at Battersea Reach has been granted planning approval after TP Bennett revised its original design to add another storey.
The 10,000sq m development by the river Thames in Wandsworth, south London, includes a commercial unit at ground floor level, with office and retail space. It will feature 89 duplex apartments.
The site, a former petrol filling station at 262 York Road, is the last undeveloped plot at Battersea Reach, around a mile upstream from Battersea Power Station.
TP Bennett’s original design rose above the existing petrol station. Although this achieved planning permission, client Angle Property decided to acquire the lease of the filling station and demolish it, then submit a revised planning application. Removing the filling station made room for an additional storey of residential accommodation, adding a further nine units.
Work on site will start early next year and run for 18 months.
