Westgate area project features flats, a hotel and shops
Dartford council has appointed a team featuring TP Bennett as architect and masterplanner to lead the £75m regeneration of the town’s Westgate area.
The mixed-use development will see the creation of 140 new homes (39 of them affordable), which will encompass one-, two- and three-bedroom flats spread across four new buildings.
A 109-bed hotel will be built on the former Co-op store site, with four upper floors containing rooms in a mix of sizes, with larger units behind the building’s façade.
The proposed scheme will also have space for restaurants, bars and shops, a multi-storey car park and a public square.
Discussions are also underway with the local Clinical Commissioning Group on the potential creation of a new health facility providing space for GPs, family healthcare, social care providers and mental health services.
Muse, the developer, is looking to submit a planning application next summer and to start on site by spring 2019. Public consultation will happen early next year.
