Lambeth council approves student accommodation skyscraper

TP Bennett has won planning for a 37-storey tower in the emerging skyscraper cluster around Vauxhall.

Located on Miles Street off South Lambeth Road the tower will contain 841 student rooms, while a secondary six-storey building will provide 3,583sq m of office space with a multi-use games area on the roof.

Designed for developer Downing the scheme will also feature a public sports facility.

Downing is also on site in Vauxhall with another student accommodation scheme. The £130m 32-storey tower has been designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley and will feature a 25-metre swimming pool and a 32nd-floor roof garden. It is due to complete next year.

TP Bennett has also designed an eight-storey build-to-rent scheme at Battersea Reach, just along the river.
