South London-based BPTW Partnership has won planning permission for a 100% affordable housing development created for Gravesham council in Kent.

The practice’s Whitehill Lane scheme in Gravesend includes eight houses and 24 apartments on what BPTW described as a “challenging” site that required the houses to have split-level living rooms leading out on to terraced gardens.

The new apartments will be delivered in a block that will be four storeys at its highest, and which will replace a 1960s community hall. The new houses will be delivered on a site at the rear of the flats.

All of the homes are designated as “social rent”. Work is due to start on constructing the homes in autumn next year, BPTW said.
