Family extends invitation to friends and colleagues
The life of BD columnist Hank Dittmar will be celebrated at a memorial event on Bank Holiday Monday.
The humanist commemoration will be held at 1pm on May 7 at the Union Chapel in Islington, north London.
Dittmar’s son said all were welcome.
Friends and family will be paying tribute and reading poetry, some of it written by Dittmar himself.
Readers are expected to include Caroline Barnett, who is directing the memorial; new urbanist Scott Bernstein, formerly chair and founder of the Surface Transportation Policy Project (STTP) where Dittmar worked in the 1990s; Roger Bowdler, formerly of Historic England; Paul Batlan; and John Foley.
The event will also include music Dittmar loved.
The urbanist and former chief executive of the Prince’s Foundation died last month aged 62.
Ben Bolgar, the senior director of the Prince’s Foundation, pays tribute to former chief executive, colleague and friend here.
