Practice designed masterplan and buildings for Nanshan Technology Finance City
A new finance district in China designed by Foster & Partners has reached completion.
The practice designed both the masterplan and buildings for the Nanshan Technology Finance City in Shenzhen.
The masterplan has created a mixed-use development that includes offices, a hotel, public realm, shops, restaurants and a range of new civic spaces.
The practice has also designed seven office towers within the masterplan.
Grant Brooker, head of studio at Foster & Partners, said: “The masterplan is about giving the city back to its people. Moving away from separated retail and commercial zones, it puts people at the heart the design.
“Pedestrian access and ease of movement through the site is of primary importance and public spaces are essential to create vibrant areas within the masterplan.”
The project is a central part of the Shenzhen High-Tech Industrial Park (SHIP), Shenzhen Bay Park.
Located along the eastern entrance to SHIP, the masterplan has been laid out as blocks that are sliced by streets and squares.
