Housing Architect of the Year creates new board of directors
East London-based practice pH+ has made a raft of promotions on the back of a range of new commissions and a body of work that saw it win BD’s Housing Architect of the Year title in the spring.
The business, which also has a studio in Sydney, said it had seen an increase in the scale and typology of its projects of late, including invitations to work on the Montessori education framework and the expansion of its mixed-use and residential experience into co-working and co-living models.
Recent schemes gaining planning consent for the practice have included a 52-home mixed-use scheme at Hackney Wick in east London and approval for the 107-home redevelopment of a former electricity works in St Albans.
A total of three staff have been promoted to board-level as part of its new senior management arrangements, with Annie Pace, Emma Flanagan and Gavin Henneberry all becoming directors. Toby Crane also becomes an associate director.
Practice founding director Andy Puncher said 2018 was “a really exciting time for pH+” and that in addition to another 120-home mixed use scheme at Iceland Wharf on east London’s Olympic Park fringe the practice was working on “a number of higher-profile projects” it was currently not able to discuss.
“We are expanding both our Sydney and London studios alongside our research investigations into shared space with our diploma students at the University of Creative Arts, Canterbury,” he said.
“We are thrilled that Annie, Emma and Gavin are joining us as directors, and Toby as an associate director, to help us to realise the potential of our studios, collaborations and projects.”
pH+ was named BD’s Housing Architect of the Year at April’s Architect of the Year Awards.
