The ROCKWOOL CPD programme helps architects, designers and specifiers to keep pace with regulatory change and maintain the highest professional standards
ROCKWOOL has a well-established programme of CPD courses about all aspects of applying insulation in construction. They are run by experts in their field and are being constantly refreshed and updated.
Evolution in building technologies and material science and advancements in construction methods mean that industry professionals have to enrol in regular training programmes to keep abreast with the latest developments. This is especially important when it comes to changes in building regulations.
In an industry that is constantly moving forward and changing, manufacturers have a responsibility to ensure access to the latest information. The ROCKWOOL CPD programme helps architects, designers and specifiers to keep pace with the changes and maintain the highest professional standards.
The individual CPD courses are regularly refreshed to support regulation compliance and enable construction professionals to deliver buildings that are safe and perform as good as they look.
Courses on offer
The CPD modules cover a wide range of insulation related subjects including:
- Acoustic standards in schools - information and guidance on current acoustic regulations and standards. A look at key factors which influence the acoustic quality within schools and teaching spaces.
- Fire Safety and Tall Building Facades - help to understand changes in the Building Regulations and corresponding government guidance in relation to the fire safety of the external walls of tall buildings and guidance through the range of ROCKWOOL insulation and fire stopping solutions suitable for rainscreen and masonry cavity wall constructions.
- Fire safety regulations – an explanation of the Euroclass fire rating system for insulation materials and passive fire protection with insulation.
- Insulation requirements for HVAC systems - providing an understanding of the standards and guidance relating to the HVAC industry in addition to total insulation solution applications to provide the comfort, health, and safety to the buildings we work, rest and play in.
- Retrofitting Rainscreen Insulation and Cladding - the role of insulation in retrofitting existing buildings to make them more energy-efficient and provide additional fire, acoustic and aesthetic benefits.
- The Fifth Facade - providing an understanding of the major risks and causes of roof fires, and how these can be mitigated using non-combustible insulation solutions.
As easy as ABC
Whereas all of the CPD courses can be completed individually as needed, ROCKWOOL has prepared a suggested combination of CPD modules to introduce professionals, who are new to stone wool insulation or who are not quite sure where to start, to the most important aspects of using the material.
This ‘ABCs of construction’ series covers:
A-Rated Products - an explanation of product combustibility and Euroclass ratings, how these relate to Approved Document B and routes to compliance on high-rise and high-risk buildings.
Building Envelope - this session looks at the use of non-combustible insulation beyond the facade, highlighting key areas where non-combustible insulation can be easily incorporated.
Compartmentation - this session moves the conversation from reaction to fire properties to fire resistance of materials. The session aims to provide a basic understanding of compartmentation and firestopping within a building.
Ready when you are
ROCKWOOL CPD courses can be hosted as breakfast, lunchtime or twilight sessions at your premises to suit busy schedules or completed on demand. The growing online CPD library can be accessed at https://rockwool.link/OCPD .
Making its CPD courses available online is part of the ROCKWOOL 360 concept. ROCKWOOL 360 is a virtual environment where visitors to the site can see, hear, listen and learn about ROCKWOOL products on their terms. In addition to the on demand CPD courses, it showcases immersive demonstrations of product tests and a library of information on stone wool insulation products.
